Schwarz Group commits €5.6bn to build 240MW renewable-powered data center in Germany

Schwarz Group, the parent company of supermarket chain Lidl, has announced a €5.6 billion ($6.52 billion) investment to develop a 240MW data center in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, northeastern Germany, with the potential to expand to 1GW by 2045. The project, unveiled as part of a new partnership with the state government, is positioned as a cornerstone of a broader effort to establish a "digital hub" in the region and strengthen the country's digital sovereignty. The facility will be located
