YIT and atNorth Sign EUR 300 Million Deal to Build Data Center in Kouvola, Finland

Finnish construction giant YIT and Nordic data center services provider atNorth have reached an agreement to design and build a new data center in Myllykoski, Kouvola, Finland. The project, valued at approximately EUR 300 million, will be part of atNorth’s expanding FIN04 data center campus and is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.

Under the terms of the deal, YIT will deliver the facility as a comprehensive design-build contract, covering architectural design, civil and structural works (CSA), mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, and commissioning. Construction is set to begin immediately, with the contract value to be recorded in YIT’s order book for the third quarter of 2026.

The FIN04 campus in Myllykoski represents atNorth’s fourth data center site in Finland and is planned to reach a total capacity of 430 megawatts once fully developed. The facility will be powered by renewable energy and designed to enable the reuse of excess heat, which could be channeled into the local district heating network, aligning with Finland’s broader sustainability goals.

The partnership underscores the accelerating pace of data center construction in the Nordics, driven by surging demand for AI and HPC workloads. As hyperscale and colocation operators seek to expand capacity in regions with abundant renewable energy and favorable climate conditions, Finland has emerged as a key hub. The FIN04 campus is expected to play a pivotal role in serving both regional and global customers seeking low-carbon, high-density computing infrastructure.
