USTDA Backs Major AI Data Center Campus in Vietnam with Feasibility Study Funding

By: IDCNOVARegion: Southeast Asia
The U.S. Trade and Development Agency has signed an agreement with Vietnamese technology company Stavian Hightech Infrastructure JSC to fund a feasibility study for the Stavian Digital Park, an AI data center campus planned for Ho Chi Minh City that is designed to serve major cloud and technology companies and is open to any trusted telecommunications provider. The project, which would rank among the largest planned data center campuses in Southeast Asia, is intended to keep trusted U.S. technology at the center of the region's rapidly expanding AI and cloud computing infrastructure.

The USTDA-funded study will encompass the full suite of ancillary infrastructure the project requires, including power supply, cooling and connectivity. Stavian has selected Illinois-based Cushman & Wakefield, Inc. to conduct the study, which will develop a procurement framework, financial model, and master plan for the campus. It will also establish criteria requiring customers to use secure equipment. This comprehensive approach is expected to help mobilize the financing needed to move the project toward construction, generating opportunities to deploy trusted U.S. solutions.

"Vietnam is a growing hub for data and AI infrastructure in the Indo-Pacific, and this partnership lays the groundwork for a landmark project built on trusted technology," said Thomas R. Hardy, USTDA's Deputy Director. "This project will help Vietnam meet its growing digital infrastructure needs while positioning U.S. companies to deliver the technology and expertise that clients are seeking for projects like this."

The campus is intended to attract hyperscale cloud and AI infrastructure operators as its first major customers, including U.S. firms. The project is expected to equip Vietnam with next-generation infrastructure that modern AI computing systems require, significantly expanding the country's data center capacity.

"Stavian Group is a leading infrastructure enterprise with four pillars: Industry, Technology, Energy, and Trade," said Tony Dinh, Chairman and CEO of Stavian Group. "Through Stavian Digital Park, we aim to help Vietnam attract more international technology investment and become a regional hub for AI and cloud computing. USTDA's funding will enable Cushman & Wakefield to prepare a comprehensive, decision-grade, bankable feasibility study to guide investment decisions and support financing. We look forward to working with U.S. companies whose innovation and technical expertise can help us build infrastructure that meets global customers' needs."

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency is the U.S. government's first mover on critical infrastructure development in emerging markets, advancing the shared strategic priorities of the United States and its overseas partners while creating opportunities to deploy trusted U.S. solutions. USTDA funds the upfront technical work that accelerates the development of infrastructure projects, helping them attract the financing they need for implementation and procurement of U.S. goods and services.
