Telin signs four agreements with PEACE Cable, GTI, SM+ and TM Forum to expand global connectivity and data centre reach

Telin, the international arm of Indonesian state-owned telecom operator Telkom Group, has signed a series of agreements aimed at strengthening its global connectivity portfolio and expanding its data centre service capabilities. The agreements were formalised during the Bali Annual Telkom International Conference (BATIC) 2026, held from August 25 to 28, and cover subsea cable capacity, fibre pair exploration, data centre colocation, and adoption of global software architecture standards.

The company signed a letter of intent (LOI) with PEACE Cable International Network to increase connectivity resources on several strategic routes connecting Asia, Africa, and Europe. Under the agreement, Telin will boost its capacity with PEACE to approximately 1.4 Tbps, including dark spectrum resources linking Egypt and France, as well as end-to-end capacity supporting cross-Egyptian connectivity. Telin said the expanded capacity will enhance its international connectivity capabilities and support growing business needs and digital services across multiple markets.

In a separate move, Telin signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Graha Telekomunikasi Indonesia (GTI), a subsidiary of the Remala Group, to establish a collaborative framework for exploring fibre pair capacity and international connectivity opportunities related to Telin’s Batam Singapore Cable System (BSCS). The BSCS cable system is a key infrastructure asset for Telin, providing direct links between Batam, Indonesia, and Singapore.

On the data centre front, Telin signed an MoU with SM+, an Indonesian data centre operator backed by local conglomerate Sinar Mas. Under this partnership, Telin will support SM+ in expanding its range of colocation solutions and reaching new customers in the international market through Telin’s global network and reach. Telin will also provide SM+ and its customers with access to global connectivity solutions from its international service portfolio, including its global data centre connectivity platform TNeX.

Additionally, Telin signed the TM Forum’s Open API & Open Digital Architecture (ODA) Manifesto, committing to adopt ODA and Open APIs as fundamental components of its software architecture. The company said this move will align its technology capabilities with global industry standards, improving interoperability and collaboration across the digital ecosystem while supporting a more open and agile architecture.

The agreements come as demand for international bandwidth and data centre services continues to rise across Southeast Asia, driven by increasing cloud adoption, artificial intelligence workloads, and digital transformation initiatives. Telin’s expanded capacity and partnerships position the company to better serve enterprises and carriers seeking reliable, high-capacity connectivity between Asia, Africa, and Europe.

Telin CEO Abdul Rahman Ansyori highlighted the strategic importance of the agreements, stating, “For Telin, building global capabilities is no longer about expanding the network, but also how we can connect various technologies, platforms, and players in the ecosystem to create more choices and value for customers. We want to continue to be at the meeting point of various capabilities to open a new growth space for Telin, TelkomGroup, and partners.”

The partnerships reflect a broader industry trend among regional telecom operators to diversify their international offerings and deepen collaboration with cable system operators, data centre providers, and standards bodies. By aligning with TM Forum’s open architecture framework and expanding its subsea and data centre partnerships, Telin is positioning itself as a more integrated player in the global digital infrastructure landscape.
