Swyft Fiber, a regional fiber-optic internet provider, has acquired Fastwyre’s South Central fiber internet network, a deal that expands its footprint across Louisiana, Texas, and Alabama. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The acquisition marks the latest move in Swyft Fiber’s strategy to extend its high-speed connectivity services beyond its existing customer base in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi.
“Swyft Fiber’s focus has always been to put customers first by providing dependable, high-speed connectivity,” said Jason Hunt, CEO of Swyft Fiber. “This acquisition allows us to extend that commitment to more communities while continuing to invest in the performance and resilience of our network.” The company assured customers that service would remain uninterrupted during the transition, with gradual improvements planned over time.
Founded in 2020 by the former owners of Hunt Telecommunications, Swyft Fiber has been scaling rapidly. In 2023, Australian investment giant Macquarie Asset Management announced plans to invest $275 million in the company, providing capital for network expansion and upgrades.
For Fastwyre, the sale of its fiber portfolio in the three southern states continues a broader divestiture strategy. In May 2026, the company agreed to sell its Nebraska operations to Great Plains Communications, and its Missouri network is being acquired by Missouri-based Socket Fiber. These deals highlight a trend of consolidation in the U.S. fiber internet market, as smaller and medium-sized providers seek to optimize assets and focus on core regions.
The acquisition strengthens Swyft Fiber’s competitive position in the U.S. South, a region with growing demand for reliable broadband infrastructure. By integrating Fastwyre’s network, Swyft Fiber gains immediate access to new communities while avoiding the cost and time of building from scratch. Industry analysts note that such bolt-on acquisitions allow regional fiber players to achieve economies of scale and improve service quality, benefiting both residential and business customers.
