Stulz unveils fourth-generation air cooling systems for Edge data centers and 5G infrastructure

German critical infrastructure cooling specialist Stulz has introduced updated versions of its TelAir and WallAir air conditioning systems, targeting Edge data centers, telecommunications shelters, and 5G network infrastructure. The launch marks the fourth generation of the product line, which the company says is engineered to address the escalating thermal demands of distributed computing and telecom deployments.

The new TelAir 4 series is designed for indoor installation, while the WallAir 4 variant can be mounted externally on container walls, offering flexibility for modular and prefabricated Edge facilities. Both systems are available in two standard enclosure sizes and four cooling capacity classes, ranging from 6kW to 17kW, according to the vendor. Stulz positions the units as reliable cooling solutions for telecommunications containers, radio stations, and Edge data centers, where space constraints and environmental variability often complicate thermal management.

Anika Do, product manager at Stulz, said in a statement: "For the fourth generation of the TelAir and WallAir cooling series, we set out to create two distinct cooling solutions that deliver outstanding flexibility across a wide range of Edge, 5G and critical infrastructure applications. By combining cutting-edge technology with modern design, ease of use, energy efficiency and reliability, we have achieved that goal."

The launch arrives as the Edge computing market continues to expand, driven by the proliferation of 5G networks, IoT devices, and latency-sensitive applications that require compute capacity closer to end users. Unlike large hyperscale data centers, Edge facilities often operate in remote or constrained environments, making compact, energy-efficient cooling systems a critical enabler of uptime and performance.

The new units are available to order immediately, building on Stulz's broader portfolio that includes an air-cooled side pod for Edge data centers introduced last year. The company also maintains a growing presence in liquid cooling, reflecting the industry's shift toward higher-density deployments. Industry analysts note that as AI workloads push power densities upward even at the edge, vendors like Stulz face increasing pressure to deliver scalable cooling architectures that balance efficiency, footprint, and total cost of ownership.
