The Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) announced on Friday the provisional allocation of 200 megawatts (MW) of new data center capacity to four operators: Digital Realty, Equinix, Keppel Data Centers and ST Telemedia Global Data Centers. The awards were made under the second Data Center – Call for Application (DC-CFA2) exercise, marking a significant step in Singapore's broader push to grow its digital infrastructure sector sustainably while aligning with national strategic and economic priorities.

According to a joint statement from the two agencies, the selection process drew substantial industry interest, with more than 20 proposals submitted by both local and international players. Each of the four winning operators has been provisionally allocated 50 MW of capacity, reflecting Singapore's continued commitment to fostering a competitive and resilient data center ecosystem.

The supported projects have committed to exceeding the minimum sustainability requirements set under DC-CFA2. Notably, the selected operators will power more than 50 percent of their data center capacity through green energy sources, including biomethane, low-carbon ammonia, low-carbon hydrogen and vertical building-integrated photovoltaics or building-applied photovoltaics. In addition, the facilities are expected to achieve best-in-class energy efficiency by adopting advanced technologies such as liquid cooling and deploying 100 percent energy-efficient information technology (IT) equipment.

DC-CFA2 was launched on December 1, 2025, with the aim of strengthening Singapore's position as a trusted regional hub for artificial intelligence (AI) and data center investments. The exercise was designed to attract proposals that would enhance infrastructure resilience and international connectivity, contribute meaningfully to Singapore's economic objectives through innovation, talent development and ecosystem partnerships, and leverage green energy pathways to advance broader sustainability goals.

The winning proposals were selected through an open competitive process, evaluated on their ability to holistically meet the strategic, economic and sustainability outcomes of DC-CFA2. Key highlights of the awarded projects include anchoring advanced compute capabilities in Singapore for emerging technologies such as AI, and generating significant economic contributions beyond direct data center investments, including research and development collaborations with Singapore-based partners.

To further support the sustainable growth of the sector, JTC is developing a low-carbon data center park on Jurong Island, designed to leverage potential synergies with low-carbon technologies within the island's industrial ecosystem. The data centers supported under DC-CFA2 will be located on Jurong Island, reinforcing the government's intent to consolidate green digital infrastructure in a dedicated, innovation-driven cluster.

Looking ahead, EDB and IMDA said they will continue to engage industry stakeholders and will review the need for another Call for Application within the next 18 to 24 months, in line with Singapore's evolving strategic priorities. The move underscores the city-state's careful balancing act: maintaining its status as a premier data center hub in Asia while ensuring that growth is achieved through a sustainable, high-efficiency model.
