Pure DC Starts Final Construction Phase of 70 MW North London Data Center Campus

Pure Data Centres Group (Pure DC), a digital infrastructure company, and Glencar, a general construction contractor, have commenced piling works for the West Shell of its 70 MW LON01B2 data center at Brent Cross in North London. The milestone marks the final major construction phase of a £1 billion (US$1.35 billion) campus development that will add more than 23,000 square meters to the site and increase its total capacity to 90 MW. The broader B2 facility is scheduled for completion in Q2 2029.

The B2 facility is being designed as a closed-loop, liquid-cooled data center tailored for high-density AI inference and cloud workloads, according to a Pure DC press release. The project incorporates recycled steel and other low-carbon materials, while the completed building will feature a living wall with more than 750,000 plants covering its exterior. The vegetation is intended to mitigate noise and air pollution and support insect and bird biodiversity near the Brent Reservoir’s Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Construction is proceeding while the existing data center campus remains fully operational, requiring Pure DC, Glencar, and other project teams to coordinate simultaneous construction and fit-out activities across the site. Glencar’s scope for the West Cold Shell includes piling and foundations, underground services, structural work, and connections to the adjacent East Cold Shell, as well as concrete and slab works, stair cores, the building envelope, and roofing.
