PT Telkom Data Ekosistem (NeutraDC), the data center subsidiary of Indonesian telecommunications giant Telkom Indonesia, has reached full utilization of the 21.5 megawatts of IT capacity at its NeutraDC Hyperscale Data Center (HDC) facility in Cikarang, marking a significant milestone for the company's digital infrastructure ambitions in Southeast Asia's largest economy. All tenants at the facility, known as JKT-1, have begun operating their infrastructure, underscoring the robust demand for hyperscale data center capacity in Indonesia.
The full occupancy of Building 1 at Cikarang reflects the accelerating market need for digital infrastructure as enterprises and hyperscalers expand their computing footprints across the region. NeutraDC Group CEO Rakhmad Tunggal Afifuddin said the milestone demonstrates sustained market demand. "The full utilization of Building 1 Cikarang shows the growing market need for digital infrastructure. For NeutraDC, this is not just about adding capacity, but also ensuring the infrastructure we build is relevant to customer needs and future technological developments," Rakhmad said in a statement received in Batam on Tuesday.
In response to the strong uptake, NeutraDC is preparing to develop additional data center capacity in Cikarang as well as at other strategic locations. The company has set a phased capacity target of up to 400 megawatts, with an aspiration to ultimately reach 1 gigawatt across Indonesia and Southeast Asia. The expansion is designed to anticipate rising demand for digital computing, particularly to support artificial intelligence-based applications that require increasingly dense and power-intensive infrastructure.
Beyond Cikarang, NeutraDC is exploring potential facility development in several industrial zones recommended by Danantara Indonesia, the country's sovereign wealth fund, for assessment. In evaluating these sites, the company is considering factors including energy availability, connectivity, and the readiness of supporting infrastructure to ensure selected locations are suitable for data center development. NeutraDC is also open to collaboration with various stakeholders, including the TelkomGroup digital ecosystem and Danantara Indonesia portfolio companies, to support long-term digital infrastructure development.
On the services side, NeutraDC operates three main business lines: Neutra Colocation for providing customer IT infrastructure facilities, Neutra Compute for AI computing needs, and Neutra Connect for linking systems and digital ecosystems. The capacity expansion also takes into account resource efficiency and infrastructure sustainability as demand for digital computing continues to rise. Through these initiatives, NeutraDC aims to expand its digital infrastructure capacity and services to support technological development and the growth of Indonesia's digital economy.
