Iraqi colocation provider T964 has announced plans to build a data center in the country, partnering with Schneider Electric to supply power and cooling infrastructure. The facility is being positioned as Iraq’s first commercial Tier III data center, a milestone for a nation with limited enterprise-grade digital infrastructure.
The data center will be developed in phases, with the initial stage offering scalable capacity that can grow from launch up to 12MW as demand increases, according to a press release from T964. The company also stated that the site has access to 84MW of total power capacity, though T964’s website currently lists the facility’s IT load at 3MW. Construction is reportedly progressing ahead of schedule, with the first phase expected to go live by the end of this year. Specific details about the facility’s location were not disclosed.
T964, also known as Tech 964, is part of a UAE-Iraqi consortium behind the $700 million WorldLink subsea and terrestrial data cable project, which was announced in February 2026. The new data center initiative underscores Iraq’s growing ambition to build out digital capacity amid regional demand for cloud and AI services. By collaborating with Schneider Electric, T964 aims to ensure the facility meets international reliability and efficiency standards, potentially attracting hyperscale cloud providers and enterprise tenants seeking local colocation options in the Middle East.
