Implenia Wins Technical Fit-Out Contract for Swiss Data Centre

By: IDCNOVARegion: Europe
Implenia has secured a contract to carry out the technical building fit-out for a new data centre in Switzerland, building on its earlier role constructing the facility's core and shell. The contract, awarded by a global provider of sustainable digital infrastructure, carries a value in the low three-digit millions and marks a further expansion of the Swiss construction group's expertise in the fast-growing data centre market.

The scope covers turnkey construction and commissioning of the complete mechanical, electrical and plumbing infrastructure across roughly 33,000 square metres, including power supply, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, fire protection, control systems and ancillary facilities. At the heart of the facility are redundant power supply systems, battery storage and emergency generators designed to deliver uninterrupted power, alongside a high-performance cooling system. The project also incorporates a photovoltaic installation and a concept for recovering waste heat for district heating. Work has already begun, with completion targeted for 2028.

Adrian Wyss, Head of Division Buildings at Implenia, said the company looks forward to contributing its extensive expertise and experience in building technology — including highly complex properties such as hospitals and laboratory buildings — and project management to this challenging project, thanking the client for its trust in Implenia.

The award aligns with Implenia's strategy of deepening its presence in the data centre sector to consolidate its leading position, as demand for digital infrastructure continues to drive construction activity across Europe. Implenia, headquartered in Opfikon near Zurich, employs more than 8,000 people across Europe and posted revenue of CHF 3.5 billion in 2025.
