EPC Power Triples U.S. Inverter Production Capacity with New South Carolina Facility to Support AI Data Center Boom

EPC Power, a leading American-owned manufacturer of utility-scale power conversion technology, has opened a new manufacturing facility in Fountain Inn, South Carolina, to address the surging demand for power infrastructure driven by AI data centers and grid stability needs. The 167,000-square-foot facility nearly triples the company's production capacity, marking a significant expansion of domestic manufacturing for critical energy components.

The new site, which is EPC Power's second in South Carolina and third overall, will produce the company's M and MRACK series power inverters. These systems, built on proprietary Agile Grid Forming technology, are specifically designed to manage the unpredictable and fluctuating power demands of AI workloads while ensuring data center reliability and reducing strain on the electric grid. The facility is expected to reach full production capacity later this month, immediately adding 27 gigawatts (GW) of annual capacity, with the ability to scale up to 40 GW annually. The expansion is also projected to create 275 new jobs in the region.

“Our expansion in South Carolina is a direct response to the AI infrastructure investment and power demands we’re seeing worldwide,” said Jim Fusaro, CEO of EPC Power. “By tripling our capacity, we’re giving data center and utility operators access to more critical components domestically, which de-risks their expansion plans and strengthens supply chain resilience.”

The move comes as the global data center industry faces unprecedented growth. According to JLL’s 2026 Global Data Center Market Outlook, nearly 100 GW of new data center capacity is expected to be added by 2030, effectively doubling global capacity. With a projected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14 percent for the data center market, innovations in energy management, such as EPC Power’s inverters, are becoming vital for alleviating grid constraints. As the only domestic manufacturer that produces all its inverters in the United States, EPC Power’s new facility positions the company to further secure the U.S. data center supply chain while reinforcing South Carolina’s role as a hub for technological innovation.
