CorefloX Opens Johor Liquid-Cooling Factory to Serve Southeast Asia's AI Data Center Boom

By: IDCNOVARegion: Southeast Asia
Singapore-based CorefloX has commenced operations at a new manufacturing facility in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, expanding its capacity to build and test liquid-cooling systems for data centers and artificial intelligence infrastructure. The move places the company's production footprint directly adjacent to one of Southeast Asia's fastest-growing data-center clusters, reflecting a broader industry shift toward localizing specialized supply chains near major infrastructure projects.

The 33,094-square-foot factory is designed to produce as many as 1,800 coolant distribution units, 3,600 liquid-cooled load banks, and 5,400 rack manifold sets annually, according to the company. Coolant distribution units, or CDUs, transfer heat from servers to a facility's cooling system while keeping the data-center and information-technology cooling loops separated. Rack manifolds distribute coolant among servers, while load banks allow equipment to be tested under simulated operating demand before installation. CorefloX said the Johor site can handle system integration, full-load testing, and quality validation, enabling the company to verify performance at the system level before equipment is shipped to customer sites.

The company specializes in the secondary side of liquid cooling, covering the equipment and piping that circulate coolant through racks and servers after heat is transferred from the facility-water loop. Its product range includes rack-, row-, and room-level CDUs, manifolds, cooling units, load banks, coolant-management equipment, and containerized data-center systems. CorefloX said concentrating manufacturing, testing, engineering, and supply-chain functions at the new site should help it standardize production and respond faster to project-specific requirements. However, the company did not disclose the amount invested in the facility, its workforce size, named customers, a delivery timetable for equipment from the Johor plant, or how much of its stated annual capacity is already covered by orders.

The opening adds local manufacturing capacity close to a region experiencing rapid data-center expansion. In April, Australia's AirTrunk said it would invest $3 billion in two additional Johor Bahru hyperscale data centers with more than 280 megawatts of combined capacity, bringing its planned Malaysian footprint to more than 700 megawatts. Johor's growth has also increased scrutiny of electricity and water use. Reuters reported in September 2025 that the state was applying tighter sustainability screening as power and water constraints emerged. That policy backdrop raises the importance of verified cooling performance, but CorefloX's release did not provide energy-use, water-use, or efficiency benchmarks for equipment made at the new plant.

Liquid cooling moves heat away from high-density servers through a fluid loop and can support rack power levels that are difficult to manage with air alone. Actual resource use still depends on the full facility design, including heat rejection, water treatment, controls, and the local climate. CorefloX made no quantified sustainability claim for the Johor factory or its output. The facility reflects a broader shift in which suppliers are placing data-center equipment and engineering capabilities closer to large infrastructure projects in Southeast Asia, which can shorten delivery and commissioning cycles for customized cooling systems. The commercial impact of the new factory will depend on utilization, customer demand, and the pace of new data-center approvals. Malaysia is competing for AI and cloud infrastructure investment while seeking more domestic value from the supporting supply chain. Manufacturing and testing specialized cooling equipment in Johor could add technical activity around the data centers themselves, beyond construction and facility operations. CorefloX said it plans to continue expanding its manufacturing, engineering, and service network but did not name the next locations under consideration.
