CoreWeave and Leidos Partner to Build Sovereign AI Cloud for US Intelligence Community

CoreWeave and Leidos have announced a strategic partnership to develop sovereign AI cloud services tailored for the US Intelligence Community and the Department of Defense (now stylized as the Department of War or DoW). The collaboration aims to address the growing demand for secure, high-performance AI infrastructure within the most sensitive government environments.

The partnership combines Leidos' decades of experience in federal systems integration with CoreWeave's specialized AI cloud platform. Together, the two companies intend to build a dedicated sovereign AI cloud designed specifically for intelligence and defense organizations, leveraging the same technology stack used in advanced commercial AI deployments but adapted to meet stringent security and classification requirements.

The planned platform will deliver a range of capabilities, including classified AI cloud services, intelligence analyst augmentation, cyber AI for simulation and autonomous defense testing, threat modeling, and Edge-to-Cloud AI orchestration to extend connectivity into disconnected and tactical environments. These services will be hosted within Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities-accredited data centers, ensuring compliance with the highest levels of U.S. government security protocols.

Jason O'Connor, president of Leidos Intelligence, emphasized the significance of the initiative, stating that combining CoreWeave's AI cloud platform with Leidos' mission-grade federal integration accelerates delivery for IC and DoW priorities. He described the effort as "the next evolution of mission technology—sovereign AI compute at scale, secure by design, mission integrated, operationally resilient, and ready for the realities of classified national security work."

Sachin Jain, chief operating officer at CoreWeave, highlighted the broader national importance of the effort, noting that artificial intelligence is becoming foundational to the nation and that federal teams need secure, scalable platforms to operationalize it. "CoreWeave is trusted by many of the world's leading AI organizations to power the most complex workloads. Through CoreWeave Federal and our collaboration with Leidos, we intend to extend those capabilities to highly secure government environments with the performance, resilience, and operational rigor these missions require," he said.

The announcement builds on CoreWeave's earlier move in October 2025, when the company launched CoreWeave Federal, a dedicated business unit focused on delivering AI cloud services to U.S. government agencies. Traditional hyperscalers have long offered dedicated government cloud regions and on-premises hardware, but the CoreWeave-Leidos partnership signals a growing push to bring purpose-built, AI-first infrastructure into the classified realm.

The partnership reflects a broader industry trend toward sovereign AI capabilities, as governments worldwide seek to maintain technological superiority while safeguarding sensitive data. By combining CoreWeave's performance-focused cloud architecture with Leidos' deep federal expertise, the initiative could set a new benchmark for how AI is operationalized in national security contexts, potentially influencing future procurement and infrastructure strategies across the defense and intelligence sectors.
