Cloud infrastructure provider Nscale has agreed to acquire Anyscale, a San Francisco-based AI software startup, in a deal valued at approximately $1.65 billion, according to a person familiar with the matter as first reported by Bloomberg News. The companies confirmed the acquisition on Thursday but declined to disclose the financial terms.
The acquisition marks a strategic move by Nscale, a vertically integrated AI cloud platform founded in 2024, to expand its software capabilities and strengthen its position in the increasingly competitive AI infrastructure market. By integrating Anyscale's technology, Nscale aims to offer clients more efficient tools for managing and running complex AI systems at scale.
Anyscale provides software that organizes and manages complex AI tasks, enabling them to run smoothly across numerous computers simultaneously. The company's entire team of about 200 employees across the United States, Europe, and India will join Nscale as part of the acquisition. Anyscale will continue to operate under its existing brand and serve its current customers, the companies said.
Nscale, often described as a "neocloud," owns and operates its own data centers, GPUs, and software stack to deliver large-scale, GPU-powered AI compute. The company competes with other major players in the sector, including CoreWeave and Nebius Group. Nscale expects the acquisition to attract more customers by offering Anyscale's software alongside its existing infrastructure services.
Anyscale has demonstrated strong momentum, generating 70 percent sequential revenue growth in its most recent quarter, according to a blog post by its co-founders. The deal is expected to close in the second half of this year, subject to customary closing conditions.
The acquisition underscores a broader trend of consolidation in the AI infrastructure space, as cloud providers seek to differentiate themselves by adding software layers that improve performance and ease of use for enterprise customers. For Nscale, the deal not only bolsters its technological offerings but also brings in a skilled team and a proven product in a market where demand for efficient AI operations is surging.
