Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a "look back" notice on APP requesting permission beyond the scope and excessive collection of users' personal information Popular apps such as Tencent News, Xiaohongshu and QQ Music were notified.
The notification shows that since the beginning of this year, the ministry has continued to increase its efforts to rectify APP infringement of users' rights and interests, and has organized three times to carry out "look back" on key issues. In the early stage, the problem of harassing users by APP's illegal calling of contacts list, location information and pop-up information was rectified. Recently, inspections have been conducted for violations such as users’ strong app over-range, frequent requests for permissions, collection of user personal information that is not necessary for service scenarios, and deception and misleading users to download. A total of 38 apps (see attachment) have been found to have problems. The above-mentioned APP should be rectified before November 9. If the rectification is not completed within the time limit or the rectification is not in place, our department will deal with it in accordance with the laws and regulations and impose administrative penalties.
