Yesterday, Xunlei released its financial report for the first quarter of 2021. It showed that Xunlei's revenue in the first quarter of this year was US$53.3 million, an increase of 5.9% month-on-month.
Cloud computing and other Internet value-added services revenue reached 27.3 million US dollars, an increase of 5.7%, cloud computing revenue was 21 million US dollars, an increase of 10.9%.
At present, cloud computing has become a shared computing service launched by a subsidiary of Xunlei. Through creative concepts, the sharing economy and cloud computing concepts are integrated, and two major services, namely, NetCloud and Star Controls, have been launched for enterprises and individual users. Thus, a cloud computing network with millions of nodes have been created.
As an edge computing model, shared computing will make full use of the massive idle network equipment and bandwidth resources under the 5G IoT, effectively alleviate the transmission pressure on the backbone network, reduce CDN delay, and bring a high-quality network experience.
In addition to cloud computing and membership services, Xunlei's advertising business has also increased. Revenue from advertising in the first quarter reached US$3.9 million, an increase of 2.4% month-on-month.
Judging from the financial report for the first quarter, Xunlei’s business is stable and has a good start for its business in 2021. As of March 31, 2021, its holdings of cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments amounted to US$245 million.
