Google's Mihika Shivkumar joins OpenAI's Stargate data center team

Mihika Shivkumar has joined OpenAI as a technical program manager for physical infrastructure.


There, she will work on Project Stargate, the company's massive data center buildout that could cost as much as $500 billion.


Shivkumar joins from Google, where she was the technical program manager for data center infrastructure design.


"Over the last 3.5 years at Google I had the chance to work on meaningful infrastructure challenges alongside some truly brilliant people," she saidon LinkedIn.


"I’m so excited to share that I’m starting a new position at OpenAI where I’ll be driving the design and delivery of AI infrastructure that will power the next generation of intelligent systems."


She will work as part of a growing team at OpenAI focused on building its own data center portfolio, starting in Abilene, Texas.

Stargate is a $500 billion joint venture between OpenAI, Oracle, SoftBank, and Abu Dhabi's MGX to deploy a number of large data centers across the US.
