The Subsidiary of Bain Capital, Plans to Invest 1.2 billion US Dollars to Build A Hyper-scale Data Center in Chonburi Province, Thailand.

On April 10th, a significant investment conference was held in Chonburi Province, Thailand. The hyper-scale data center enterprise Bridge Data Centres (referred to as "BDC"), under Bain Capital, had an in-depth exchange with the local government. Both parties jointly discussed the implementation matters of the data center project. The successful convening of this symposium attracted much attention, especially in the current wave of digital transformation, where the demand for data centers has rapidly increased.

At the meeting, Thawatchai Srithong, the governor of Chonburi Province, and Wu Huaping, the CEO of Bridge Data Centres, jointly attended, marking the official launch of this investment. Wu Huaping announced at the meeting that in the next three years, BDC will invest 1.2 billion US dollars in Chonburi Province to promote the construction of local computing infrastructure. Such capital injection will undoubtedly bring strong impetus to enhancing the digital economic development level of Chonburi Province.

Wu Huapeng stated that the company will be committed to building a leading-edge and stable hyper-scale data center in Samut Prakan Province. It is expected that its scale can reach 200MW. This not only lays the foundation for building a future sustainable computing infrastructure ecosystem in the local area, but also will intensify efforts to cultivate local talents and promote industrial upgrading. He emphasized: "We hope that through this investment, we can provide vital strength for the digital economy of Samut Prakan Province and jointly create a brighter future."

Chonburi Province, as an important area of the Eastern Economic Corridor of Thailand, this investment is regarded as an important measure to strengthen the development of the digital economy industry. The provincial governor Thawatchai Srithong stated at the meeting that Chonburi Province will fully support the project of BDC and establish a special working group to provide "one-stop" services for it, ensuring that all supporting facilities such as land, power supply, and water supply are fully guaranteed. He looks forward to establishing a long-term cooperative relationship with BDC based on a common vision and striving to make this project a model of digital economy cooperation.

It is worth noting that in recent years, the data center market in the Asia-Pacific region has witnessed rapid growth. According to statistics, from 2018 to 2023, the compound annual growth rate of the data center market in the Asia-Pacific region reached as high as 19.1%. Such growth rate far exceeds that of the markets in Europe, America, the Middle East, and Africa. It is projected that by 2028, the total supply of data centers in the Asia-Pacific region will soar from 11.1 GW in 2023 to 26.7 GW.

Behind this rapid growth is the huge demand for computing power driven by digital transformation. The global demand for data storage and processing capabilities is increasing, and as a result, various large enterprises are investing more and more to promote the construction of related infrastructure. BDC's investment in Chonburi Province undoubtedly takes advantage of this huge market potential.

This investment will further enhance BDC's influence in the Pan-Asia-Pacific region, as if injecting a strong stimulant into Thailand's digital economy development. As the project progresses, Chonburi Province will embrace more development opportunities. We believe that in the near future, Chonburi Province will stand out in the digital economy field and become a leader in the industry. We are looking forward to the positive changes brought about by this investment and hope that this cooperation can become an opportunity for more enterprises to pay attention to and enter the Thai market in the future.
