STT GDC breaks ground on 24MW Jakarta 2 data center in Indonesia

ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) has broken ground on its second Indonesian data center, STT Jakarta 2.

Announced in a recent LinkedIn post, this is the second of four planned buildings at the company’s Jakarta campus.

Located in Bekasi, Jawa Barat, STT Jakarta 2 is set to deliver up to 24MW of IT capacity once complete in 2026.Other specifications and details were not shared.

STT GDC’s Jakarta campus has a target of more than 90MW across the four facilities and is supported by a dedicated 150kV substation.

The STT Jakarta 1 facility has been operational since June 2023, with a design IT capacity of 18MW.

Plans for the campus were first announced in May 2021. The campus is being developed under a joint venture with leading Indonesian conglomerate Triputra Group and global investment company Temasek (which owns STT GDC).

“Indonesia is experiencing rapid digital growth, driven by the increasing adoption of cloud computing, AI, and big data,” said Hendrikus Hendra Gozali, country head of STT GDC Indonesia. “This new data center will provide the critical infrastructure needed to support Indonesia’s digital economy, ensuring that businesses have the capacity and resilience required to thrive in the digital age.”

Other operators in the Jakarta region include NTT, DigitalEdge, Princeton Digital Group, EdgeConneX, Equinix, AWS, Datahall, and DCI Indonesia.

NTT broke ground on its Jakarta data center earlier this year. Its JKT3 campus is also located in Bekasi and was launched in April 2022.
