Alibaba Cloud’s Singapore node experienced a network disruption earlier on September 10, a situation prompted by a fire outbreak in the data center. In response, Alibaba Cloud issued an official statement.
The statement clarified that the fire in the Singapore data center led to a temperature surge, triggering the network disruption. Firefighting teams were promptly dispatched and are currently managing the situation. By 10:55, the majority of cloud network and
cloud security products had proactively switched over, while other services are still undergoing the transition.
According to the official update, based on their product scheduling strategies, high-availability versions of various cloud products, including Redis/MongoDB/RDS MySQL, Object Storage Service (OSS), and Table Store (OTS), along with the cloud-native big data computing service MaxCompute, have progressively completed disaster recovery switching. However, there remain 18 outstanding issues with the Singapore node at this time.
Alibaba Cloud was founded in 2009. In November 2023, it experienced two system crashes within one month. The disruption, which lasted nearly two hours, affected customers in mainland China, Hong Kong, and the United States, impacting several of Alibaba Cloud’s database management products.
