Princeton Digital Group (PDG) today announced the acquisition of Yahoo’s Singapore data center, SG3. This strategic move strengthens PDG’s position as a leading data center operator in the region.
Yahoo will continue to operate its infrastructure within SG3, while PDG takes on the role of managing the data center as a third-party operator. The company plans to invest in the facility to optimize its operations and achieve industry-leading efficiency
The acquisition of SG3 complements PDG’s existing hyperscale data center in Singapore and further bolsters its SG+® strategy, which encompasses a network of data center campuses across Singapore, Batam, and Johor. With this addition, PDG’sportfolio now includes over 20 data centers with a combined capacity of 1 Gigawatt.
“The acquisition of Yahoo’s SG3 data center is another illustration of PDG’s three-pronged investment strategy of greenfield development, carve-outs and acquisition. Along with a strategic asset, we gain an important customer in Yahoo and additional capacity to serve PDG’s customers,” said Rangu Salgame, Chairman, CEO, and Co-founder of PDG. “Through this acquisition, we continue to be in alignment with Singapore’s strategy of unlocking additional data center capacity by driving greater energy efficiency at existing data centers.”
PDG recently inaugurated its global headquarters in Singapore, underscoring its dedication to the region. The company’s acquisition of SG3 is seen as a significant step in supporting Singapore’s efforts to increase data center capacity through improved energy efficiency.
