U Mobile, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres Partner To Harness 5G Potential

U Mobile, in its drive to realise the full potential of 5G for various verticals, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), one of the world’s fastest-growing data centre colocation services providers. The collaboration will see U Mobile leveraging 5G’s high-speed, lowlatency connectivity, essential for edge computing and IoT (Internet of Things) devices, to enhance the functionality of STT GDC’s data centres in the country. Additionally, the data centre’s operations teams can benefit from 5G as an essential backup in the event of fibre network failures, facilitating robust disaster recovery for facilities management systems.


As part of the strategic partnership, U Mobile will collaborate with STT GDC on new use cases and joint customer innovation initiatives. 5G can support Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) applications that facilitate real-time monitoring, diagnostics, and autonomous operations for edge applications, which is attractive to customers of both companies.

With this collaboration, we will also be able to witness how 5G is able to help optimise cost and efficiency for our customers.
