Sinar Mas uses SAP to drive operational efficiencies

Indonesian conglomerate Sinar Mas has selected RISE with SAP to improve its operational efficiencies and tap into emerging technologies including artificial intelligence (AI)


According to the CEO and chairman of both Sinar Mas Agribusiness & Food and its 30 subsidiary Golden Agri-Resources, Franky Widjaja, the move to SAP cloud will ensure that the business can better navigate future challenges and leverage future benefits, such as AI, while contributing to Indonesia’


Previously, Sinar Mas was reliant on an on-premises system; the decision to migrate to SAP S/4 HANA Cloud was driven by the need to streamline operations, boost agility, innovate faster and drive scalability


“Having access to accurate, high-quality data from across our organisation is critical to Sinar Mas being able to better integrate and streamline our operations,” Golden Agri-Resources executive director of strategy and people


“Moving to SAP … ERP will provide us with this holistic view of our data, which will enable us to adapt better to changes impacting all of the industries we operate in.” As one of SAP’s first customers in Indonesia, Sinar Mas will move five of its businesses to the cloud by leveraging RISE with SAP


SAP Business AI is built into SAP applications that power critical business processes and comprises a range of AI solutions that have been developed using industry- specific data and deep process knowledge with responsible practic。


Therefore, the transition will future-proof Sinar Mas to better serve its customers as AI transforms Indonesia’s business landscape


SAP SE chief revenue officer Scott Russell said this is a prime example of how Asia’s leading companies are leveraging the cloud to build resilience and agility in today’s dynamic market。


“Throughout our partnership with Sinar Mas, which spans 28 years, Sinar Mas has always looked to its future and what it needs to do to continue grow and scale,” SAP South East Asia president and managing director Verena Siow added.
