JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi stated that the Indonesian government is preparing regulations for artificial intelligence (AI) technology governance.
According to him, they will draw up this regulation referring to the best practices from each country, including the implementation of UNESCO's Readicity Assessment Methodology (RAM).
Launching from UNESCO's official page, the RAM methodology will cover a series of quantitative and qualitative questions designed to gather information about the various dimensions associated with the AI ecosystem of a country, including the legal and regulatory, social and cultural, economic, scientific and educational dimensions, 26 as well as the dimensions of technology and infrastructure.
The application of RAM will later be adjusted to the state and unique characteristics of the country, as well as the available budget for the project.
In addition, Budi also stated that Indonesia uses a horizontal and vertical approach to formulate regulations related to AI technology.
The horizontal approach is through regulations in the Electronic Information and Transactions Law, the Personal Data Protection Act and the Circular Letter of the Minister of Communication and Information on AI Ethics. Meanwhile, the vertical approach is sectoral, such as the financial and health sectors," he explained, quoted Thursday, April 25.
