August 11, 2023, /ChinaDaily/ - Chinese short-video platform Kuaishou announced on Thursday it will ramp up investments to provide data flow support for more than 7 million premium content creators in the next year, and help its creators obtain over 100 billion yuan ($13.8 billion) in income.
Cheng Yixiao, founder and CEO of Kuaishou said more than 22 million content providers have gained income on the platform in the past year. Kuaishou has helped over 20 million creators generate revenue annually for three consecutive years since 2019.
Currently, the daily active users of Kuaishou stood at 374 million. In the past year, the number of works published by content creators increased 14.8 percent year-on-year, while the number of active creators who have over 10,000 followers surged 31 percent on a yearly basis.
More than 6 million content creators obtained data flow support, with the number of their followers rising 2.7 million in the past year. By the end of 2022, Kuaishou has also brought about 36.21 million job opportunities.
The company is also banking on the fast-growing artificial intelligence-generated content, or AIGC, segment, and will upgrade its video editing and photography tools by leveraging AI technologies to improve working efficiency for creators.
China's short-video sector has seen rapid expansion in recent years, with the number of users amounting to 1.012 billion in 2022, according to a report from the China Internet Network Information Center.
