June 5, 2023, /CGTN/ - The Global Digital Economy Conference 2023 kicked off in Beijing on Tuesday, under the theme of "Digital Drives Development, Intelligence Leads the Future". The four-day event attracted 110 enterprises, domestic and from overseas, to exhibit a wide range of products available to the digital economy industry today.
Beijing's Communist Party Secretary, Yin Li, said at the opening ceremony that digital technologies are driving transformative change, and becoming an important driving force of economic development. He added that a new round of scientific and technological advancements are rapidly approaching, which ultimately impacts on industrial transformation.
Wang Jiangping, the vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said that China will continue to focus on promoting digital industrialization and industrial digitization, thus making the digital economy better, bigger and stronger.
Meanwhile, China proposes a global digital economy partnership city cooperation initiative at the conference on Tuesday.
The cooperation initiative aims to promote exchanges and cooperation among cities around the world, and to share an open and mutually beneficial market environment, according to Wang Lei, deputy head of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology.
Wang said that the initiative aims to jointly build an open innovation network for the digital economy among global cities, accelerating the process of urban digital transformation.
