June 23, 2023 - Network operator Paratus Group has announced plans to construct Angola’s first Tier-IV-by-design data centre in Luanda.
This complements the existing two Tier-III-by-design data centres that the pan-African telco already owns and operates in the country. It’s also the fifth world-class certified and carrier-neutral data centre operated by the Paratus Group in southern Africa.
This is said to be the Group’s most ambitious data centre project to date. it will be constructed on a 30,000 square metre plot, will have the capacity to house over 2,000 cabinets, and will have a total IT power capacity of more than 10MW.
Described as a natural evolution following on from the building of other world-class data centre facilities by the company in Namibia and Zambia recently, it will be the biggest data centre in Angola. Chief Technical Officer at Paratus Rolf Mendelsohn says it “not only complements our existing data centre offering but will cement our network in Angola as a major hub in the region”.
Paratus Group, currently has four Tier-III by design, carrier-neutral, certified and purpose-built state-of-the-art data centres in southern Africa.
With the huge opportunities presented by the activation of the Equiano subsea cable and by the rapidly growing digital economy, Paratus says it has established itself as a key player in igniting the possibilities for hyper-scalers, cloud and infrastructure providers as well as multinational enterprises.
Paratus owns and operates data centres in Angola, Namibia and Zambia. It is celebrating 20 years in Africa.
