Indonesia plans to build various national data centres

June 20, 2023 - Jakarta (VNA) – The Ministry of Communication and Informatics of Indonesia is aiming to complete and inaugurate a national data centre in Bekasi district, West Java province, by October 2024.
Director General of Informatics Applications at the ministry Semuel Pangerapan on June 19 said that another in Batam city is currently in the tender process and is expected to be completed by 2025.
Meanwhile, data centres in two other regions - the new state capital in East Kalimantan and Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara - are still in the planning stage.
The construction of the centres is part of the government's programme to prepare facilities to implement an electronic-based government system (SPBE), which is expected to support the realisation of Indonesia One Data to support national interests.
The development of these centres is also being undertaken for ensuring a more efficient government.
The Indonesian government is preparing to issue a ministerial regulation on the national data centre, including its safety standards, in coordination and collaboration with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), Pangerapan added./.
