WANG Jianjun (王建军), Chief Architecture of Huawei Data Center Energy

WANG Jianjun (王建军), Chief Architecture of Huawei Data Center Energy, shared a keynote speech of “New Generation Data Center under the ‘Dual Carbon’ Policy”. It analysed the data center industry policy and market opportunities and interpreted the trend of data center development. WANG pointed out that, with the rapid IT development, data centers show a trend of high density, intelligence, and evaluation systems with more dimensions. New generation data center should follow the four principles: low carbon, minimalism, AI driven, safe & reliable. General speaking, low carbon means to efficient use of resources throughout the life cycle from resource input, use to recycling; minimalism means to reshape the product form and innovate the construction model from architecture, power supply to temperature control; AI-driven means use AI to assists to maximize the value of " Maintenance, optimization, operation"; safe and reliable means all-round construction of data center infrastructure security defense line.

For the green development of data center, plan and design should be the first things to be considered. FAN Qiang (范强), Vice President of Electronic Engineering Design Institute of China Aviation Planning and Design Institute Co., Ltd., shared the low carbon data center plan and design under the “Eastern Data and Western Computing” policy. He made an analysis and elaboration on data center site selection, natural cooling, hot aisle sealing, high temperature chilled water, large temperature difference cooling, etc. with the purpose of low carbon based on the practice of data center plan and design. He said modularization, prefabrication, and rapid deployment need to be combined with the business growth needs of the data center, and should be considered in the entire design process. Energy-saving design can realize low-carbon data center infrastructure, but to achieve low-carbon data center, it is necessary to adjust the energy structure and actively use renewable energy.

DU Kun (杜坤), Director of Huawei Data Center Energy Product

DU Kun (杜坤), Director of Huawei Data Center Energy Products, introduced Huawei's data center solutions around the theme of "Intelligent DC, Green Building the Future". During the construction of traditional data centers, there are four major challenges: high energy consumption, long construction period, difficult operation and maintenance, and high security risks. To this end, Huawei proposed the next-generation data center concept of " low carbon, minimalism, AI driven, safe & reliable ". Based on this concept and years of technology accumulation, Huawei has built a data center energy full-scenario solution, including 3 core subsystems + 2 major solutions. At the discussion forum held on September 1, 2022 in Beijing, China, DU Kun (杜坤) gave a systematic and comprehensive introduction to the three core subsystems of intelligent power supply, intelligent temperature control and intelligent management, as well as the intelligent micro-module solution and the FusionDC prefabricated modular data center. The application case of the central scene vividly interprets the appearance of the next-generation data center with intelligent and sustainable development.

Under the “Dual Carbon” background, data center’s green and low carbon development has bring challenges and opportunities to industries. In the discussion forum, many invited executives and technical experts of data center companies have conducted in-depth face-to-face exchanges on topics such as guest sharing, market demand and technical practice, and next-generation data centers. The discussion forum was held in the Beijing classical courtyard, and fruitful discussion results have been achieved in the place.

The development of the digital economy is surging, and the data center as the base brings new energy. Under the “Dual Carbon” policy, data center has a long way to go, and the next-generation data center with intelligent and sustainable development is coming. Huawei leads the development and transformation of data centers with technological innovation, and joins hands with all sectors of the industry to build low-carbon computing power and secure a green future with "low-carbon".
