China Mobile joins hands with ZTE and partners to complete the world's first operator's 5G NTN mobile phone direct-to-satellite technology field verification|Idcnova-Media|the gateway to China data center market

Recently, at the 5G-Advanced Industry Development Summit held by ZTE, China Mobile Research Institute, together with industry partners such as ZTE, Transportation and Communications Information Group, and China Mobile Beijing, jointly released the world's first operator 5G NTN (non-terrestrial network) technical field verification results.

The achievement is based on the 3GPP R17 NTN protocol and adopts the high-orbit satellite transparent forwarding network architecture to complete the end-to-end link connection of terminals, satellites, ground gateways, base stations, core networks and service servers. The L-band satellite and the ground gateway station are located between the NTN terminal and the base station to complete the air interface message transmission. The ground gateway station is connected with the 5G NTN base station, and the terminal is connected to the ground core network and service platform through satellite, gateway station, and NTN base station. It realized the end-to-end business connection of air, space and ground integration. It successfully completed communication use cases such as synchronization, broadcast, access, data transfer, etc. It realized business tests such as text message, voice intercom, etc. The delay of ping 64 bytes is about 4s, the short message service function is normal, the voice intercom is clear and smooth, the performance is in line with expectations, and it is basically feasible for commercial use. In the next steps, Beijing, Yunnan and other provinces will carry out the actual business of emergency communication pilot.

5G NTN and terrestrial networks are integrated to build a world-ground integrated network with ubiquitous connections, rich scenarios, highly integrated industrial chains, and low construction, operation and maintenance costs.
