A few days ago, the signing ceremony of Gui'an Midea Cloud Project was held in Guiyang. According to the agreement, Gui'an Midea's cloud project is located in Machang Science and Technology New City, Gui'an New District, Guiyang City. The total land area of the data center project is 133 mu, focusing on the construction of high-standard data centers and Midea's Guizhou Software Center. The total investment in five years is about 1.355 billion yuan. The total planned racks of the data center will exceed 10,000 within 10 years.
According to Midea Group, the project will support the computing power demand of Digital Midea in the next 10 years. Fang Hongbo, chairman and president of Midea Group, said that "digital intelligence-driven" is one of the four strategic paths of Midea Group. Midea will continue to increase digital investment and build a digital Midea Group. Gui'an Midea Cloud project will further introduce a software R&D center to develop innovative businesses such as manufacturing cloud services.
In an interview, Zhang Xiaoyi, vice president of Midea Group, pointed out that Midea Group's data volume is growing exponentially, and the computing power of the company's data center in Foshan is expected to be relatively tight by the end of 2024, "We need to start construction as soon as possible. To be a digital Midea , the computing power of digital enterprises is the core competitiveness, and this is what we must do.”
In addition, he also said that if Midea’s overall manufacturing cloud solution is to be developed, the company’s computing power needs to be further enhanced, which is also an important reason for Midea Group to set up a new data center in Gui’an.
As a national computing power hub node in the "East Data West Computing” project, Guizhou hub node has advantages in climate, energy, environment, etc., and has attracted many well-known enterprises to land in recent years. The construction of industrial clusters is developing rapidly. By the end of 2021, 8 large-scale data centers have been built in Gui'an, Guiyang City, with a total investment of 13.165 billion yuan.
