It was reported on February 16 that four departments including the National Development and Reform Commission, the Central Cyberspace Administration, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the National Energy Administration responded with a letter, agreeing to start construction of the national hub node of the national integrated computing power network in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta region, the Chengdu-Chongqing region, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It marks that all the eight national hub nodes of the national integrated computing power network have been approved to start construction.
Build a national computing power hub system is to accelerate the green and high-quality development of data centers, In May 2021, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Central Cyberspace Administration of China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the National Energy Administration issued the "Implementation Plan for the Computing Power Hub of the Collaborative Innovation System of the All-in-one Big Data Center”. In the Implementation Plan, it proposes to deploy national hub nodes of the national computing power network in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Chengdu-Chongqing, and Guizhou, Inner Mongolia, Gansu, and Ningxia and start the implementation of the "East Digital and Western Computing" project in order to build a national computing power network system
The layout and construction of the 8 national hub nodes of the eight national integrated computing power networks are divided into two batches, and the approved nodes are the second batch. The first batch (4 nodes in Inner Mongolia, Guizhou, Gansu and Ningxia) was approved on December 29, 2021 by the National Development and Reform Commission in conjunction with the Central Cyberspace Administration, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the National Energy Administration to start construction.
The layout and construction of the eight national hub nodes of the national integrated computing power networks have different positioning and play different roles. It is positioned to continuously improve the service quality and utilization efficiency of computing power, give full play to its resource advantages, consolidate basic guarantees such as networks, and actively undertake non-real-time computing power needs such as background processing, offline analysis, and storage backup nationwide.
The four nodes of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and Chengdu-Chongqing should serve the implementation needs of major regional development strategies. It is positioned to further coordinate the layout of data centers in the city and surrounding areas, realize the coordination and sustainability of large-scale computing power deployment and resources such as land, energy, water, and electricity, optimize the supply structure of data centers, and expand the space for computing power growth.
